Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
