Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
