Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
