Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
