Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
