Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
