Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
