Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
