Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
