Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
