Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
