Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
